New Delhi: A thick blanket of fog continues to disrupt life across North India, causing significant delays in train services and affecting visibility. In Uttar Pradesh, the iconic Taj Mahal was shrouded in fog, while dense conditions also covered Odisha’s Mayurbhanj.

The fog has heavily impacted railway operations, with several trains cancelled or diverted at Ayodhya Railway station. Over 25 trains, including Poorva Express, Vikramshila Express, and RJPB Tejas Express, are running behind schedule, with delays ranging from one to several hours. Passengers at various stations expressed frustration as they faced long waiting times amidst the cold wave.

Delhi, gripped by biting winds and plunging temperatures, recorded a minimum of 11.6°C early on Tuesday morning, with the day’s temperature forecast ranging between 8°C and 19°C. The city remained enveloped in dense fog, reducing visibility and exacerbating the cold conditions.

To support the homeless during these harsh conditions, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has established 235 pagoda tents across the capital. Night shelters have been set up in areas like AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and Nizamuddin flyover. Many people were seen gathering around bonfires to stay warm.

The fog and cold wave conditions have created challenges for commuters and the vulnerable population, underscoring the need for continued relief measures as the region battles extreme weather conditions.
