Fake News Alert: Govt. has not ordered notice regarding movement restriction

NEW DELHI: In a widely circulated WhatsApp message, a notice touted as an official message from Government of India regarding movement restriction, is actually fake.

On March 16, an audio clip claiming India will go into a lockdown due to coronavirus was also fake, informed PIB.

Meanwhile, a lot of things are being paraded as effective measures that can help deal with the infection better. Twitter users have slammed an advertisement by a company trying to sell Anti-Corona Virus Mattress.

Citizens have been asked to be aware of such products that individuals and companies are trying to sell. Health organizations have also come up with a list of myth busters around coronavirus.

With all sorts of preventive measures floating around, WHO has come up with a list of myth busters to help you deal with coronavirus outbreak.

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Department in Mumbai’s Vakola and Haryana Food and Drug Administration conducted raids in their respective regions and busted fake hand sanitizer manufacturing companies. Due to coronavirus scare, there has been a severe shortage of hand sanitizers. Corrupt individuals can see this as an opportunity so people should be aware of such products.

WHO has said that “Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body will not kill viruses that have already entered your body. Spraying such substances can be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, mouth). Be aware that both alcohol and chlorine can be useful to disinfect surfaces, but they need to be used under appropriate recommendations.”

AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said that consumption of non-vegetarian food will not cause coronavirus.

“As common healthcare precaution, all kinds of meat should be thoroughly washed and properly cooked,” said the AIIMS Director.

Among other claims, he said that weather conditions may not affect the spread of the virus since countries with tropical weather conditions are also getting affected due to coronavirus.
