CHANDIGARH: In a recent development, Haryana Police successfully arrested a prime accused, Aamir, linked to the Nuh violence, following a brief encounter. The incident unfolded in the ruins of the Aravalli mountain in Taoru, Nuh. Aamir, a resident of Didara, Nijampur Tauru, Haryana, sustained a leg injury during the exchange of gunfire between the police and the accused.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a country-made firearm from the possession of the accused. This marked the second encounter between the Nuh police and the accused individuals. The skirmish involved both sides firing shots, resulting in Aamir's injury.
Earlier, the situation took a different turn when residents of Singar village handed over five other accused individuals to the police. This voluntary action came after consistent appeals by both the police and the local administration. The surrendered individuals, namely Juber, Salman, Ansar, Rafiq, and Abu Bakar, were subsequently arrested and interrogated.
The Nuh violence, which erupted on July 31, stemmed from an attack on the VHP's Braj Mandal Yatra by a mob, leading to communal clashes. Tragically, six individuals, including two home guards and a cleric, lost their lives in the confrontations. In the aftermath, law enforcement launched a widespread search to apprehend the suspects involved in the violence.
District Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata and Superintendent of Police Narender Bijarnia have been actively engaging with representatives from 262 villages. Their objective is to ensure peace is maintained in the region and to encourage the remaining accused individuals to surrender to the authorities.
In relation to the Braj Mandal violence case, a substantial number of FIRs—61 in total—have been filed. Additionally, around 280 individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement. Notably, one individual was arrested for spreading rumors on social media. The Superintendent of Police issued a stern warning against heeding such rumors, affirming that the police would take strict action against those responsible.
As the investigation and efforts to maintain order continue, this incident sheds light on the complex challenges faced by law enforcement in ensuring communal harmony and justice in the region.
