Income Tax Return Filing deadline extended to Nov 30 for assessment year 2019-20

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended to November 30 the filing of income tax returns as the assessment year 2019-20, for the financial year 2018-19. This is the fourth time the date has been revised amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The first revised date was June 30 then July 31 then September 30 and now it is November 30.

A notification released by CBDT said that it has further extended the due date for furnishing of belated & revised ITRs for Assessment Year 2019-20 from 30th September, 2020 to 30th November, 2020.

The deadline for furnishing annual returns under the Goods and Service Tax(GST) has also been extended by the Centre for FY19 by a month till October 31,2020

The CBDT in its official Twitter handle mentioned that the Government has extended the due date for furnishing Annual Return in GSTR-9 and GSTR 9C for 2018-19 from September 30 to November 30, 2020 after getting the due clearance from the Election Commission in view of the Model Code of Conduct.
