MUMBAI: Mumbai Police summoned podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia to come in for questioning on Saturday, February 15, 2025. This is after he skipped a meeting arranged at the Khar police station over his offending remarks made during a now-deleted episode of comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show 'India's Got Latent'.
On Friday, February 14, Assam and Mumbai police teams made their way to Allahbadia's house in the Versova area, only to find the flat shut. The official confirmed that the Mumbai police had opened an investigation into the backlash following Allahbadia's comments regarding parents and sex, which have attracted wide public outrage and provoked several complaints.
Despite Allahbadia's request to have his statement recorded at home, the Khar police declined this proposal. The Assam police are also seeking to question him in connection with a case filed in Guwahati, against him promoting obscenity in an online show.
As part of the ongoing probe, the Mumbai police have taken statements from eight people, including popular faces like Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Makhija, on a complaint made by a BJP functionary. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has also called about 50 contestants of the show for questioning, including actor Raghu Ram, who was a part of the judges' panel.
