Indore has been named India's Cleanest City for the eighth consecutive year

In the Central government's annual cleanliness study, Surat came in at the second place, while Indore won the title of cleanest city in India for the eighth consecutive year.

In the government's annual cleanliness survey, Indore remained the cleanest city for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Surat and Navi Mumbai. Noida was the cleanest city among those with a population of 3–10 lakh, followed by Chandigarh and Mysore.
At a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in the nation's capital by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), President Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 Awards.

The main objective of the 'Swachh Survekshan' mission, according to the government, is to promote widespread public participation and raise awareness among all societal segments on the significance of cooperating to improve towns and cities as places to live.
Swachh Survekshan, which is in its ninth year, evaluated sanitation, waste management, and service performance in over 4,500 cities using a framework of 10 characteristics and 54 indicators.
A "smart, structured approach to assess urban cleanliness" and service delivery was used in the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, according to the Center, utilizing "10 well-defined parameters with 54 indicators."
