BENGALURU: After a high-voltage campaign consisting of celebrity campaigners, Karnataka voting concludes; 65.69% voter turnout registered until 5 p.m. Udupi had the highest voting rate of 47.79 percent.
Karnataka had elections for 224 assembly constituencies, with 2,615 candidates running. The Election Commission of India states that 113 seats are required to form a government. In the assembly election, 42,48,028 new voters have registered to vote.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a high voter turnout in Karnataka, while the Congress party has urged voters to 'vote thoughtfully'.
Meanwhile, Ramanagara had the greatest turnout of 63.36 percent during the eight-hour voting period, which began at 7 a.m., while Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) South boundaries (parts of Bengaluru city) had the lowest at 40.28 percent, according to election officials.
The state is poised for a triangle battle between the BJP, the JD(S), and the Congress, with the BJP seeking to retain power. In the state's 58,545 polling sites, a total of 5,31,33,054 electors are eligible to vote, with 2,615 candidates competing.
According to the Election Commission, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Central had a 19.30% voter turnout, while BBMP (North) had 18.34%, BBMP (South) had 19.18%, Bagalkot had 23.44%, Bangalore Rural had 20.23%, Bangalore Urban had 17.72%, Belgaum had 20.76%, and Bellary had 23.56% until 11 a.m.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was among the first in Shivamogga to vote. BS Yediyurappa predicted that the BJP would receive 75%-80% of the vote. "We will form the government with an absolute majority." "We'll get 130-135 seats," the experienced party leader predicted.
As Karnataka voted for a new government, PM Modi accused the Congress in the southern state of threatening the lives of individuals from the Hakki Pikki tribe who were stuck in conflict-torn Sudan from a rally in Rajasthan.
