NEW DELHI: In a horrific incident in Odisha, a 30-year-old man allegedly beheaded a minor girl of 8 years old and roamed across the village with the severed head.
The dreadful murder incident took place on Friday 25 March in the Sambalpur district of Odisha as informed by the police.
The accused identified as the father of two daughters is a resident of a village in Jamakira block of Odisha's Sambalpur district.
According to reports, the 8-year-old girl had gone into nearby farmland during the morning hours on Friday. Then the accused man followed her with an ax and cut off the head of the girl.
After beheading the girl, the man took the severed head and roamed across different areas of the village. He went near a tube well in the village and washed the severed head of the girl.
The wife of the accused got involved in a heated argument with him after she came to know about his terrifying act. She was then threatened by her accused husband with an ax. As informed by the locals the man after committing the heinous crime slept on the ground and they called the police.
Police reached the spot immediately after getting informed and detained the accused man. The officials also started an investigation over the brutal murder case.
The body of the girl has been sent for post mortem and the ax used in the crime has been seized as informed by Premjeet Das, the inspector at Jamankira Police station.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the accused person was addicted to alcohol and he had no enmity against the family members of the victim.
The Sub-divisional police officer of Kuchinda, Rajkishore Mishra informed about the preliminary investigation which suggests the man is alcoholic and had no connection with the family of the deceased.
The officer further stated that the reason behind the crime is not yet known and they are investigating to find out what was going on in the mind of the accused while killing the girl such a terrific act.
Meanwhile, the incident has left the entire village in shock as they witnessed the man roaming with the severed head.
