Manipur and Uttar Pradesh Sign MoU for ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ Program

The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ program aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states or UTs.

UTTAR PRADESH: The governments of Uttar Pradesh and Manipur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementing the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ program. The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ program aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states or UTs.

The states carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured cultural connection in the areas of language learning, culture, traditions & music, tourism & cuisine, sports, and sharing of best practices, etc.

The signing ceremony took place in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Department of Tourism & Culture organized the event, and several dignitaries, including UP Minister of Culture & Tourism Jayveer Singh, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, and Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture) Mikesh Kumar Meshram, attended the event.

The Government of Manipur was represented by Commissioner (Art & Culture) M Joy Singh, who was accompanied by Art & Culture Deputy Director (Program) G Dharmadas Sharma. The Government of Uttar Pradesh was represented by Special Secretary (Culture) Ravindra Kumar.

After the signing of the MoU, M Joy delivered a formal address. This was followed by a cultural presentation featuring ‘Ihougal Jagoi’ and ‘Thang Ta’ from Manipur. The MoU will come into force from the date of signing and will be valid for three years, which may be renewed for another three years, a statement said.
