NEW DELHI: Oil marketing companies reduced the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 7 on Saturday, just ahead of the Union Budget presentation at 11 AM in the Lok Sabha. The rate cut takes effect immediately, making a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder available for Rs 1,797 in Delhi.
The price of the 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains the same. The 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder is mostly used in hotels, restaurants, and other businesses, so this price change will directly affect them.
This price change is part of a bigger trend of fuel price changes due to ups and downs in the global market and recent international uncertainty. Oil companies frequently adjust LPG prices in response to fluctuations in global crude oil rates and other influencing factors.
In December last year, oil companies increased the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹62. LPG prices differ across states based on local taxes and transportation costs.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday rained a series of poll sops for the hotly contested Delhi Assembly elections, promising Rs 2,500 monthly monetary assistance to women, a Rs 500 subsidy on LPG cylinders, and medical insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh to every resident.
Unveiling the BJP manifesto, the party president, J.P. Nadda, also promised the setting up of Atal canteens after the Assembly polls, which would provide food to the poor and marginalized at just Rs 5.
Nadda informed that the BJP manifesto would be released in phases, and women and youth empowerment was of paramount importance in its "Sankalp Patra."
