NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes on Wednesday, hoping for a prosperous and joyful New Year.
PM Modi posted on X, "Happy 2025! May this year bring everyone new opportunities, success, and endless joy. May everybody be blessed with wonderful health and prosperity."
President Droupadi Murmu also extended her new year greetings, stating on X, "Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! May the year 2025 bring joy, harmony, and prosperity to all! On this occasion, let us renew our commitment to work together for creating a brighter, more inclusive, and sustainable future for India and the world."
Meanwhile, across India, cities hosted vibrant celebrations, including parties, cultural events, live music, and decorative displays. In Delhi, popular spots like Hauz Khas, Connaught Place, and Lajpat Nagar attracted large crowds, with Delhi Police implementing strict security measures to ensure safety.
The Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, witnessed a significant influx of visitors during New Year celebrations. Hotels across the country organized special events, while in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and Lucknow, street festivities featuring music and dancing continued until midnight.
Spectacular firework displays lit up the skies in many cities. In Mumbai, popular spots like Juhu Beach, Chowpatty Beach, Versova Beach, and Marine Drive drew large crowds of visitors eager to witness the vibrant celebrations.
Manali, a popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, came alive with street celebrations, while residents of West Bengal added a unique touch to their festivities by using mobile phone lights. In Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram ushered in 2025 with dazzling firework displays.
