The Special Protection Guard (SPG) is responsible for the protection and usually, it sends the request for a new car. The SPG understands the required needs for protection and accordingly, it decides whether a new car is required or not.
The said car comes with the facelifted model with VR10 level protection and it is highest- ever level of security provided in any production car. The car's body is capable of withstanding bullets as well as blasts.
Many such features make this car special and one of these features is that it comes with a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating which can protect occupants from a 15 kg TNT explosion from a distance of two metres.
The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard is powered by a very powerful 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that makes 516 Bhp of power and 900 Nm of peak torque. Its maximum speed is 160 km/h. The doors and windows of this car cannot be pierced by any gun.
Apart from these, the windows of this car have been coated with polycarbonate and the lower part of the vehicle has been made heavily protected so that the people sitting in the car are safe, even if they come in direct contact with the blast. There is also a separate air supply system in the cabin of this car in case of a gas attack.
Notably, the fuel tank of the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard is also made of special material and its lid automatically closes in case of a collision. Reportedly, the same material is also used in the AH-64 Apache Tank Attack Helicopter.
According to reports, Mercedes-Maybach launched the S600 Guard in India last year at a price of Rs 10.5 crore and the S650 costs more than Rs 12 crore.
