Radhika Yadav's father is accused of firing five bullets with a licensed revolver into the family's home in Sushant Lok Phase-2 at around midday. After being hit by three of the bullets, Radhika Yadav was taken to a private hospital nearby in severe condition, but she passed away while receiving treatment.
The weapon used has been found, and the culprit has been placed under arrest. According to authorities, Radhika Yadav's father shot her following a dispute about her choice to operate a tennis academy.
In Indian women's tennis, Radhika Yadav was regarded as one of the most promising doubles players. She achieved a remarkable accomplishment for a young athlete traversing both national and international events on November 4, 2024, when she earned 10 international points and achieved her career-best ITF women's doubles ranking of 113.
She was rated #5 in women's doubles on the Haryana competitive tennis circuit, and her name was frequently brought up alongside other up-and-coming players like Thaniya Sarai Gogulamanda (ranked 125) and Poorvi Bhatt (ranked 109). In addition to her skill, Radhika Yadav was respected for her discipline and sportsmanship. She was well-known for her agility, on-court intelligence, and unwavering work ethic.
Manoj Bhardwaj, Radhika Yadav's former instructor, described her passing as a tragic loss. "She was very talented, disciplined, and focused," he remarked.
Although disputes about running the academy and financial independence had long been points of contention, police sources now speculate that Radhika's participation in a music video may have exacerbated domestic tensions.
Karwaan, a song by independent singer INAAM, which was released under the LLF Records label around a year ago and was produced by Zeeshan Ahmad, is the subject of the video. Radhika makes several appearances with INAAM. Deepak had reportedly requested her to take the video down from her social media accounts after objecting to her part in it, according to people close to the probe.
According to sources, Deepak Yadav acknowledged that he fired Radhika because he was constantly made fun of for depending on her income. But according to the authorities, Radhika's tennis academy was the primary point of contention between the father and daughter. According to Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Singh, who was quoted by PTI, "Radhika used to run a tennis academy, and her father was not happy with it."
She refused to close the academy as he requested. Assistant Commissioner of Police Yashwant Yadav was quoted as saying, "He ultimately shot her dead over the same dispute."
Although the tennis academy seems to be the main source of contention, Gurugram police stated they are looking into other possibilities. One of these could be the father's disapproval of Radhika's relationship or the videos she shared on Instagram.
