New Delhi: Slain photojournalist Danish Siddiqui including four Indians have been awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize 2022 in the feature photography category.
This is the second time Siddiqui has won the Pulitzer Prize and this time it was in the feature photography category.
He has extensively covered the Afghanistan conflict, the Hong Kong conflict, and other major events in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Danish Siddiqui was shot dead during coverage of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan last year.
According to the prestigious US Pulitzer Prize website, Reuters News Agency's Siddiqui and his associates Adnan Abidi, Sana Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave have been nominated for the award.
Danish Siddiqui, 38, was on duty in Afghanistan and was killed last July while covering clashes between Afghan troops and the Taliban in Kandahar's Spin Boldak district.
He graduated in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. He also had a degree in Mass Communication from the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia in 2007.
Initially, he started his career as a television news correspondent, later switched to photojournalism, and joined Reuters as an intern in 2010.
