NEW DELHI: Chandigarh will no longer allow the sale of tobacco outside of schools. In reality, the assembly discussed the problem of selling tobacco near schools on December 18. Following that, the Chandigarh administration's education department issued stringent directives.
In Chandigarh, the Education Secretary has issued severe directives prohibiting the sale of tobacco products within 100 metres of any school. The principals of all public and private schools have received these directives.
The Education Secretary stated in the orders that there should be random inspections around the institutions. In order to obtain the Chandigarh Police's cooperation, this information should also be disclosed to them.
Some youngsters could be lured to smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco for a variety of reasons, including to seem cool, act older, lose weight, seem tough, or feel independent, it is crucial to keep kids away from tobacco.
However, parents and educators can resist these allures and prevent children from attempting these activities and developing an addiction to them. Early discussion of vaping and tobacco usage with your children will make it simpler to resolve these challenging situations.
Amit Sharma, a social worker, sought action in this matter in a letter to the education secretary during the assembly. There are 43 senior secondary schools among the 113 government schools in Chandigarh, it should be noted. In addition to 12 middle schools, there are 54 high schools. Four further primary schools are present.

The government has modified the start time for children's schools and offices to 10 am due to the cold.
