Uttar Pradesh: Several Leaders of BJP, BSP Booked For Violating Model Code of Conduct

Muzaffarnagar: At least 14 leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in state's Muzaffarnagar have been booked by the police for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct and COVID-19 guidelines.

Notably, in the wake of COVID-19, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has suspended the physical rallies or roadshows till January 22 in all the five-poll bound states.

According to reports, BJP MLA Umesh Malik, who is contesting from Budhana seat, and his supporters were booked for holding a roadshow in his constituency yesterday.

Meanwhile, a case has also been registered against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Charthawal constituency Salman saeed.

Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds beginning February 10.
