12 villages inundated in Demow

DEMOW, July 24: Due to the incessant rain since the last few days under Demow Circle Office and Nitaipukhuri Mouza, the water level of Brahmaputra and Dehing rivers has increased and around 12 villages are under water. Due to the rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra, 12 villages like Liabil, Miri Pathar, Lachan Gaon, Sessamukh, pamuwa, Ranguawali, Padanchuk, Bhakuri Chapori and Dehing Kalghar are under water and 2,000 people have been affected. People are shifting to safer places. Paddy crops have been destroyed. Villagers along with domestic animals are living in Dehing embankment. Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra constituency, visited the flood-affected areas on Sunday and took stock of the situation. He also promised to distribute relief among the flood-hit families.
