20th convocation of AAU held

JORHAT, March 1:  Altogether 676 graduates and postgraduates received their degree certificates during the 20th convocation of Assam Agriculture University (AAU) on Tuesday in the AAU campus, Jorhat.

As many as 30 students were awarded gold medal and cash prizes for their efficiency in different academic programmes.   Dr Kamal Malla Buzarbarua, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agriculture University, gave the welcome address. “Convocation is a very special occasion for a university, more so for a premier university like the Assam Agriculture University which has been producing quality human resources in the field of agriculture and allied sciences not only for the service of the north-eastern region but also for the tion as a whole,” he said.

Addressing the students, teachers and researchers of AAU during the20th convocation, the Governor of the State and the Chancellor of the University said, “I consider it a great privilege to be presiding over the 20th convocation of AAU, a leading, vibrant and a distinguished agriculture university of the country.”

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, was present in the 20th convocation as the chief guest. Eminent space scientist Dr Jitendra th Goswami, Dr HS Gupta, and eminent veteriry scientist Dr. Chandra Kanta Rajkonwar were conferred with doctor of science degrees (honoris causa) by AAU in the convocation.
