25 students awarded by Royal School of Music

JORHAT, March 19:  A total of 25 students from YMCA School of Music, Jorhat were awarded for merit in Grade-III piano exam by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM), London which was conducted in November, 2016 by Michael Froggart, eminent pianist, composer and global examiner for ABRSM for the year 2016 at three centres throughout the Northeast including Jorhat, informed Dia Momin, the faculty in-charge of YMCA School of Music, on Sunday.
In a glittering function, the passing out students were awarded with certificates which were issued by ABRSM, London. The citation were handed over to the students by Dr. Rupak Bezbaruah, musician-cum-composer and former Professor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), while the function was presided by Dorothy Momin, Associate Professor of DCB Girls’ College, Jorhat and was assisted by Tonmoy Bhuyan, Anita Jamir and Rintu Dutta, all faculty members of YMCA School of Music.
Dr Rupak Bezbaruah who attended as the chief guest, called upon the awardees to concentrate on music along with their academic subjects. Later, a total of 10 outstanding pianists played their staff notation during the certificate award ceremony.
