GUWAHATI, Sept 8: In a joint operation with Mankachar (Assam) police on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended three Indian cattle smugglers from bordering areas of South Salmara district of Assam.
BSF troops conducted a joint patrolling with Assam Police in areas behind BOPs Jhalachar and Kushnimara of 57 Bn BSF deployed in South Salmara district. While patrolling in Jhalachar area, party observed suspicious movement of miscreants along with cattle towards IB. Patrolling party challenged them to stop but the miscreants tried to escape from scene. They were immediately apprehended. They were identified as Fulu Miya (20 Yrs), and Akhirul Islam(22 yrs). Both are residents of Jhalachar village under Jhowadanga police station of South Salmara district district. Later on, while patrolling through Kusnimara area, party again succeeded to apprehend another cattle smuggler mely Hafizul Rahman (22 yrs), resident of Nebula Char village under Jordanga of police station of South Salamara district. All the three apprehended Indian cattle smugglers were taken into judicial custody by Mankachar Police for legal action.
Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier have also seized 64 cattle heads having on approximate value of Rs. 2,74,290 and 75 bottles Phensidyl on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday while being smuggled into Bangladesh. This was stated in a press release.
