Dimapur, September 24 :On 21 September, 37 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles conducted an operation in general area Pur Bazar and apprehended one armed NSCN (IM) cadre.
The operation was launched based on specific information regarding presence of the armed cadre and his indulgence in extortion/ arms peddling activities in the area of Pura Bazar. During the operation, house of the cadre was searched, which led to recovery of one Point 38 Colt Revolver. The apprehended NSCN (IM) cadre has been identified as Awang Wangsu (28 yrs), Rajapeyu, NSCN (IM), resident of Unity colony, Pura Bazar – B, Dimapur. Possession of weapon by underground cadres is in contravention to the Ceasefire Ground Rules (CFGR). The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon was handed over to the Dimapur East Police Station.
In another operation Assam Rifles troops in conjunction with the state Police representatives have busted a fully functiol drug trafficking module operating from Athibung town on 18 Sep 2015. During the operations, the troops of 18 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 6 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended one suspected NSCN (KK) cadre mely Lamkholen alias Alen alongwith huge cache of banned SP capsules quantity 25600 No’s and Nitro capsules quantity 2800 No’s worth 3,14,000/- in civil market. The apprehended was attempting to smuggle the contraband drugs from Dimapur to Peren for further sale. With this apprehension, Assam Rifles, “The Friends of the Hill People” have asserted its pledge to eradicate contraband from the soil of galand. The efforts made by the Assam Rifles have been widely appreciated by the civil administration. This was stated in a press release.
