Itagar, Feb 18: The All Aruchal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has appealed state Governor J P Rajkhowa for making ISBT operatiol by March next.

AAPPTF chief advisor Takar Goi in a press statement today informed that the construction of ISBT which started in the year 2011 is yet to be completed due to non release of funds from the centre.

While 80 percent of the work is being completed, Rs 9 crore only has been released so far against the sanctioned amount of Rs 19.80 crore, he added.

Stating that delay in releasing fund is the main reason for delay in its completion, Goi appealed to the governor to take up the matter with the central government so that Capital Complex is relieved of traffic congestions.

He also appealed for making Truck Termil at Lekhi functiol by March next which according to the federation is pending owing to non release of sanctioned funds.

Federation president Dobing Som while strongly condemning the Itagar Municipal Council (IMC) for allegedly collecting parking tax in an unsystematic manner said that IMC should first properly earmark parking places and then start collecting taxes.

Stating that AAPPTF is not against collection of parking tax which could be a steady source of revenue for state government, Som however said that it should be done in a proper manner instead of doing it at the wimps of the IMC. He said that IMC should work in cooperation with the federation so that its expertise in this matter can be engaged.

Also claiming that there is no fixed rate or desigted place for parking, Som demanded that the IMC come out with proper desigted parking place and rate charts. He opined that the parking tax should not exceed Rs 50 on hour basis while claiming the commercial vehicles are charged Rs 200 and above for few minutes also.
