Aastha Foundation wants zrul's work in Hindi and English, moves President

Silchar, September 14: Aastha Foundation is working actively in the domain of skill development training and promotion of cultural activities. In order to promote cultural activities based on Kabi zrul Islam’s works and life, members of NGO got an opportunity to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan and meet with the President of India, Prab Mukherjee, recently. During the meeting, Khil Khil Kazi, granddaughter of Kabi zrul Islam, has presented books and albums based on the writings and life of Kabi zrul Islam to the President.

Arb Chakraborty, founder and chairman of Aastha Foundation, along with its advisor Rabin Mukhopadhay, and the secretary of Agnivi, have presented the President of India, the traditiol gamocha as well as a memento on Kabi zrul Islam as a mark of respect to him. The members acquainted the President with the various initiatives taken by their organization with the support and cooperation of Khil Khil Kaji and her Agnivi to spread the work and views of the rebel poet, Kabi zrul Islam globally and also proposed to hold a cultural programme on him at Rashtrapati Bhavan which the President accepted.

zrul’s writings reflect his deep hatred for commulism, racism, religious superstitions and social parochialism. In these spheres, he was much ahead of his time. His advocacy for female education inspired the law makers of the subsequent ages. In one word, his humanism was his sterling quality. Besides his love for his motherland and humanity as a whole, he had profound love for music and this culmited in the creation of a unique style of Sangeet (zrul Geeti) and ragas. They also proposed to the President to translate the version of Kabi zrul’s work in Hindi and English languages by the Government of India.
