Akshar Foundation awarded

GUWAHATI, May 30: Akshar Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Guwahati, received the "SPO India Emerging NGO of the Year Award" at the SPO India CSR Summit in New Delhi recently.  Akshar Foundation is dedicated to the eradication of poverty through the creation of a network of free schools that teach children and families how to earn a living, run a sustaible business, heal their environment. Akshar was awarded for its innovative approach known as Meta-Teaching, whereby teegers in poverty are trained and paid to teach younger students. This practice allows Akshar to dissemite skills and training at an exponential rate for low cost, keeps teens out of trouble, and provides them with invaluable vocatiol skills. Akshar also uses an integrated approach to poverty eradication, allowing teens and families to earn their basic needs: education, vocation, medication, nutrition, hydration, and sanitation. The award was presented to Akshar Director and former MLA, Prof. Alaka Sarma by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, one of the chief architects of the Companies Act of 2013. This was stated in a release.
