SHILLONG, May 22: The All Meghalaya Adhoc Upper Primary School Teachers Association (AMAUPSTA) is not a breakaway teacher’s body from the Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA), clarified F. Marboh, General Secretary of AMAUPSTA.

He informed that that the association of Upper Primary teachers was founded in 2006 with a sole aim to safeguard the interest of teachers under Adhoc Upper Primary School.

As per the clarification of the leader of AMAUPSTA, the MUPSTA which is being led by Kenneth Shadap is a teacher’s body which includes all the teachers from Upper Primary School including government UP School, Deficit UP School, Adhoc UP School, SSA UP School and even Upper Primary schools run by private individuals.

“We request Kenneth Shadap and B R Thabah to return and once again be part of the MUPSTA,” the general secretary of AMAUPSTA said.

He said the formation of AMAUPSTA is because Adhoc Upper Primary teachers do not have their own body as is with the case of other school teacher’s body.

The AMAUPSTA has further urged all the Upper Primary teachers to not be misled on the credential of the school they are teacher or otherwise.

On the announcement made by the MUA-II government to enhance the salary of Adhoc teachers in the state by 100 percent, Marboh said, “The association want to inform our fellow Adhoc Upper Primary teachers that it was the AMAUPSTA who had met the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma earlier this year, in which during the meeting assured that the salary will be enhanced.”
