Haflong, Feb 15: The ceremonial laptop distribution of Anundoram Borooah Award, 2016 was held on Tuesday at the District Library Auditorium, Haflong.
Total 649 laptops were distributed to the first division holders of Dima Hasao district. Thairingdao Langthasa of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School attained first position in Dima Hasao district and 18th position in the State. Jason Hrangkhol of Don Bosco attained second position in the district. Marti Nunisa of St Agnes Higher Secondary School and Gaurav Chanda of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School attained third position in Dima Hasao district. The laptop distribution programme as organized by Dima Hasao district Administration.
The programme started with lightning of lamps and felicitation with gamosa of the dignitaries. Ranjit Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, gave the welcome address. All dignitaries encouraged the students for achieving such noble awards and asked them to keep up their efforts to achieve higher studies in future by using the laptop and congratulated them for their achievements to cross the first obstacle towards their higher studies. Subash Longmailai, retired IAS officer and senior citizen, sketched the life and activities of Anundoram Borooah as an educationist as well as scholar. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Gayatri iding, Inspector of Schools, Dima Hasao, Haflong after handing over of laptops to the top 10 position holders in the district.
The programme was attended by Fleming Shylla Rupsi, EM i/c Education, NCHAC, as chief guest. Him Bahadur Chetri, vice-chairman HCGAC, Ranjit Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Thaosen, Principal Secretary, NCHAC, Dipak Jidung ADC, Additiol Director, Education Department, Haflong, Gayatri iding, Inspector of Schools of Dima Hasao , other dignitaries, teachers, guardians and student community.
