Lakhimpur, Sep 2: A section of grade IV employees of Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) of North Lakhimpur, has allegedly always been neglecting their duties. These employees serve in the sub-stations in the night shifts.

Locals alleged that these employees do not respond to the complaints of the people misbehave with the subscribers.

“Recently we had a current failure in our residence in the midnight and we had called the electricity sub-division office to register a complaint but these employees of APDCL do not even bother to receive the call or register a complaint when it is their duty and responsibility to solve the problem. These employees often found drunk and intoxicated in their night shifts duties. They have been neglecting their responsibilities for long period,” alleged a local resident.

“Often they make false excuses for being uble to perform their duty in the night. If one goes to check in the sub-station office in the midnight, anyone can find them in inebriated condition,” he said.

Parag Bhuyan, a social activist of North Lakhimpur said that these ill mannered workers of APDCL has to be punished as they have been escaping from their duty from a long period of time.

“Even if they show up after registration of a current failure complaint, these employees stink due to the consumption of alcohol during the duty hours. They were supposed to do their technical work for the public for free as they paid by the government supported company,” he alleged.

Refuting the allegations, an APDCL official told to The Sentinel that these allegations are baseless.
