SILCHAR, February 14: The District Development Mager, tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD), Cachar in association with Kurkuri Pt IV Farmers Club organised a day long sensitisation programme on Joint Liability Group (JLG) for stakeholders at Burunga Pt I, Cachar District recently. About 40 members from NGO, SHG, Dairy Society and farmers participated in the programme. At the outset, K. Deb, Chief Coorditor of the farmers’ club extended warm welcome to all the participants and set out the objectives of the sensitisation programme.
Debabrata Das, DDM, BARD explained about the concept of Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), General Features, Difference between JLG and SHG, models of JLG fincing, documentation, role of NGOs and promotiol support available from BARD. He clarified various doubts and answered to the queries of the participants.
K.K. Paul, Branch Mager, Assam Gramin Vikas Bank, Beherabazar Branch gave a brief account on the role of group members and shared his experience in dealing with various groups.
The programme ended with vote of thanks from Chief Coorditor of the Farmers’ club.
