Bhergaon subdivisiol police launches crackdown on dumpers

TANGLA, March 13: As a part of a drive by the Tangla Police to prevent overloaded vehicles, especially dumper laden with heavy materials, from plying on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road, a total of 14 dumpers were impounded in over the last two days in a drive by Bhergaon SDPO, Barun Purkayastha.

 While talking to media persons, Purkayastha said, “The dumpers were carrying stones beyond permissible limit. There were even discrepancies in challans as the drivers used to manipulate the dates and resort to fraudulent means. We have registered cases and strict action will be taken against operators of overloaded dumpers. The drivers and operators were booked vide u/s 420,468,379 IPC.”

The drive was highly lauded by locals. The drive was launched in the light of the recent complaints of public and student organizations. The dumpers were responsible for scores of hit-and-run incidents on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road in the past year. High-speeding overload dumpers plying in Mangaldai-Bhutiachang SH-4 carrying construction materials have started giving nightmare to the people of Tangla town and its suburbs. Various student organizations and locals have demanded diversion of the dumpers’ route to Panery-Bengbaroi-Mekenzi road.
