KOKRAJHAR, Oct 31: The third death anniversary of Ayung Chakya Brahma, who died on October 31, 2012 in Beijing, Chi while attending the World Martial Arts Championship with a view to focus and demonstrate Bodo Khomlaii (traditiol wrestling), was observed at Choto Adabari village library hall under the aegis of Bodoland Indigenous Games Association (BIGA) and Khomlaii Federation of India (KFI). Brahma was the founder of BIGA and KFI.
As part of the programme, the leaders of BIGA, World Boro Historical Society, Jajati Suraksha Mancha, ABSU, All Bodoland Artistes’ Association, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Tribal Sangha, All Bodo Women’s Welfare Federation (ABWWF), Bodoland Citizens’ Forum, NGO and well-wishers offered flowers at his burial place at Adabari in the morning. The wife of Chakya Brahma- Roni Bala Brahma paid homage and offered the floral tribute before his portrait. Earlier, the vice-president of the BIGA Abish Chandra Islary hoisted the organizatiol flag at half mast.
A memorial lecture on the contribution of Chakya Brahma was held at the Library hall of Choto Adabari village with Abish Islary, vice-president of the BIGA in the chair. The open discussion on the life and contributions of Brahma was addressed by the former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Brajendra Kr. Brahma, BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary, local MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, working president of World Bodo Historical Society and former IRS Jaklal Basumatary, secretary of KDSA-Sarada Paul, Editor-in-Chief of Bibungthi-The Opinion Pratibha Brahma, local intellectual Jali Prasad Basumatary, former EM of BAC DD rzary, retired Headmaster of Vidyapith High School, Kokrajhar, Bibeka nda Brahma and Joint Director of Health Services, BTC Dr. Adhir Kr. Brahma and was attended by advisor of Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA), Maguram Balary, former president of Kokrajhar district BSS- Basanta Kr. Brahma and president of NGO-North East Regiol Social Work Network (NERSWN), Raju Kr. Brahma and former president of Kokrajhar Primary BSS, Sarada Paul. Earlier, the general secretary of BIGA, Guno Shankar Wary elaborated about the dedication of Brahma in the field of indigenous games and its present status.
