Dibrugarh, Jan 8: Dibrugarh police arrested a youth from Loharpatty area here last night on charges of stealing two wheelers. The arrested youth has later identified as Bipul Gogoi alias Ajit Bora. However two of his associates maged to escape from the police dragnet. During interrogation, the arrested youth though claimed himself as member of the ULFA (Swadhin) but the Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police (SP) stated that the arrested and his associates were car lifters. The SP claimed that the arrested youth was also worked for army as informer. According to Javed Akhtar Khan, the spokesman of the Dibrugarh District Congress Committee, his younger son and his friend when intercepted a three-member gang who were trying to steal a motorcycle, one of the members drew his arms and fired four rounds. Khan also disclosed that on hearing his sons cry he and his wife Ri Begum, a ward commissioner of Dibrugarh Municipality Board and locals rushed to the site and with the help police maged to b one of the car lifters. Police investigation is on.
