Bongaigaon Refinery launches Gyanodaya scheme

Guwahati, May 27: With an eye to encourage the under privileged students to pursue the technical education in Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnic institutions, Bongaigaon Refinery under its CSR initiatives launched Indian Oil Gyanodaya scheme in a ceremonial function on Friday at Bongaigaon Refinery which was attended by GC Sikder, CGM (I/c), A Kalita, CGM (TS&HSE), D Gogoi, CGM (Tech) and other Sr officials of BGR and the representatives from IOOA, BGR unit and BGREU, a press release said.

In the function, Dr Mrilini Das, Principal, Bongaigaon Polytechnic and Raju Gopal, Principal, Industrial Training Institutes, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar handed over the consent documents to G C Sikder, CGM (I/c) for implementation of Indian Oil Gyanodaya scheme in their institutes from the academic session 2017-18.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mrilini Das lauded Indian Oil Bongaigaon Refinery for taking such an initiative for providing scholarship to meritorious student belonging economically underprivileged group.

Raju Gopal, Principal, Industrial Training Institute, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar in his addressed expressed that such scheme will definitely encourage the student to pursue the technical courses in different trades in the ITIs.  

 Speaking on the occasion, G C Sikder, CGM (I/c) highlighted various CSR initiatives undertaken by Bongaigaon Refinery for socio-economic development of the vicinity and said that Indian Oil Gyanodaya scheme is particularly to support the economically backward student by providing monthly stipend to pursue the technical courses in the ITIs and polytechnic with a view to promote the Skill India Mission launched by the Government of India.

He also urged the Principals of Bongaigaon Polytechnic and ITI, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar to give adequate publication of the scheme not only in the Institute but also in the society so that more and more student get encourage to peruse the technically courses.

Earlier, U C Das, CM (CSR) welcomed the gathering and briefly mentioned about the IndianOil Gyanodaya scheme.
