The crusade against corruption launched by the present BJP-led government has notched up several successes. But, is the APSC alone corruption infested in Assam? Like many people, I am sure the rot of corruption is deeper in Education department. May I request our Hon’ble Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to order a thorough enquiry into the appointments in three government colleges – mely Diphu Government College, Haflong Government College and Cotton College – that took place during the corrupt Congress regime? How many teaching staff were appointed by the APSC and on what basis selections were made? What were the eligibility criteria for selection of Assistant Professors in these Colleges? Cannot the candidature of all those teaching staff whose services were regularized and who were selected and rejected be reviewed, Mr. Minister? Cannot their qualifications be re-assessed? How fair our DHE will be in recommending a grade to a College to the visiting AC (tiol Assessment Accreditation Council) team? Are all these colleges and teaching staff fulfilling UGC criteria? If all those selected or promoted fulfilled eligibility criteria, why don’t you now call for direct students’ feedback in confidential covers? Again, how many Assistant Professors were promoted to the rank of Associate Professor? How qualified were and are they? Did all of them deserve their promotions? Can seniority alone factor selection? How many teaching staffs were regularized and on what basis they deserved regularization? In regularization of their services, did the former Tarun Gogoi Cabinet take any decision? If so, how was the cabinet decision justified? It is said that some legal opinions influenced selection as well as regularization. Will the Hon’ble Education Minister kindly order a commission of enquiry about the validity of legal opinion?
Midnight of 31st December 2017 and 1st January 2018 will always be written with golden letters in anls of Assam history. After years of wait and later on with some many delays due to insincerity shown by previous Congress government, the first part draft of NRC was published. The correct NRC is the only ray of hope to elimite foreigners issue once and for all. I would fail in my duty if I fail to remember three gentlemen mely Pradip Bhuyan, Ranjit Gogoi and Abhijit Sarmah. Due to untiring efforts of the above mentioned three, NRC update work started under the watchful eyes of the apex court. Truly the above trio are the unsung heroes of Assam who are all successful persons in their persol lives.
