Jorhat, December 14: The district and sessions judge, Jorhat rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) secretary general Paramanda Rajbongshi on Wednesday.
Rajbongshi had filed an anticipatory bail petition before the district and sessions judge, Jorhat in connection with AXX employee Rajendra th Dutta’s suicide case on December 3. On hearing the bail petition, the court, by an order, had called for submitting case diary from the investigation officer of the case. The investigating officer of the case submitted the case diary before the court and after perusal of the case diary, the court rejected the bail petition.
AXX former head assistant- cum- accountant Rajendra th Dutta was found dead at AXX’s head office at Jorhat Chandra Kanta Handique Bhavan on November 23. Police also found a suicide note where he accused Rajbongshi and AXX’s present head assistant-cum-accountant, Biren Goswami for his death. The case was filed by Dutta’s wife Kunjarani Dutta on November 25 at Jorhat police station which was registered under section 306 of the IPC.
Rajbongshi was interrogated continuously for 16 hours at Jorhat police station in connection with the case from December 2 when he appeared before police in response to a notice issued to him by the investigating officer of the case.
