Drastic improvement required: Governor to BSNL

Itagar, Feb 16: Governor JP Rajkhowa has emphasised for drastic improvement in the telecommunication network coverage in the state. The governor said this while interacting with Chief General Mager (CGM), North East-II Telecom Circle, BSNL, Dimapur, T. Durga Prasad, who called on the Governor at Raj Bhawan, Itagar on Monday, an official release said here today. Rajkhowa stressed for proper telephone and mobile coverage at the district headquarters along with ADC, EAC and CO headquarters. Sharing his experiences from the visits to Bumla Pass, the Governor said that special focus must be on border areas. “Such steps will not only help the people to communicate but also secure the territorial integrity of the country,” he added. Rajkhowa also advised the BSNL officials to take proactive steps to enhance the network for steady and uninterrupted call facility. He directed works department like, PWD, PHED to have proper coordition during expansion of road width as BSNL fibre cables are damaged during such works. Earlier, Prasad briefed the governor on the facilities provided by BSNL in the state. He also informed on the constraints including, high microwave and satellite spectrum charges, poor power supply in exchanges and mobile towers etc. The CGM suggested for VSAT hub in Itagar and provision for cable duct along Trans-Aruchal Highway by the union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). General Mager, BSNL, Itagar, Dilip Siram accompanied the CGM in the meeting, the release added.
