Durga Puja celebration begins in Dhekiajuli

DHEKIAJULI, October 19: The four-day Durga Puja festival started with Swasti Puja in Dhekiajuli.

Thousands of devotees offered obeisance to Goddess Durga. This year 85 puja pandals have been erected by different puja committees in different parts of Dhekiajuli. Shitalmari Village Durga Puja Committee will celebrate its golden jubilee this year. Dhekiajuli Hari Sabha Puja Committee will celebrate its platinum jubilee this year.  Mitham Basti Kali Mandir  Durga Puja Committee will celebrate its silver jubilee.

The  most colourful pandals in the Dhekiajuli are Sanghashree Durga Puja Pandal, Harisabha Puja Pandal, Kali Bari Durga Puja Pandal, Amar Samity, Durga Bari and Vivekanda Club Durga Puja Pandal. The neighbouring tea estates have also made preparations to celebrate Durga Puja. Singri TE, Julia TE, Tinkhuria TE, Dibru Darrang TE Sapoi TE and Hirajuli and Panbari TE have erected  colourful pandals.

Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, BhimandaTanti,  local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Habul Chakraborty, social workers  Nibhash Das ( Bhujja ) and Benu th and different organizations  have extended Durga Puja greetings  to the people.

Meanwhile, the administration has made security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during the Puja celebration. The local police have instructed all the puja committees to deploy sufficient volunteers  and set up CCTV cameras  in and around the puja pandals.
