Ex-rebels call for eviction of ga encroachers from Assam land

SIVASAGAR, Dec 16: Encroachment and assault by gas and Aruchalis in Assam land has continued ubatedly since the rule of Congress and AGP governments. With BJP in the power at present, the illegal encroachers are creating sporadic clashes and causing harassment to the Assamese people living along the bordering areas of Assam-galand and Assam-Aruchal. The allegation was made by All Assam Surrender ULFA Sammittee. In a press release, Rajkumar Duwarah, president of the central committee of All Assam Surrender ULFA Sammittee, urged the government to evict ga people who had illegally settled or occupied land belonging to Assam.
Duwarah also stated that regarding land of Assam invaded and occupied by people from galand, the Sammittee had already sent memorandum to the President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, Governor and Chief Minister.
Referring to the matter of construction of check posts at Sori, mtola, Amguri, Mariani and Merapani by galand, the Sammittee has demanded to evict the illegal check posts from Assam land and to deploy police and paramilitary forces along the 20-km stretch between the Assam-galand border.
The Sammittee also demanded the Centre to seize the arms and ammunition in the hands of ULFA (pro-talk) and NSCN (IM) members immediately.
