Dibrugarh, Aug 1: A case of fake bank account has been registered against the Bank Mager and employees of State Bank of India, New Market Branch here by the office bearers of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) at the local police station. Accusing the bank officials of gross negligence in carrying out their duty towards their customers, AJYP has demanded strict legal action against the bank officials.

The alleged fake account case came into light when one Dhan Handique of Notun Ali Bogapathar received an official letter from State Bank of India, New market where he holds his bank account informing him of a separate A/C No 20272163261 in his me and address. The fake account was opened by one Suruj Gogoi of the same village using the official me and address of Dhan Handique with a photo of his own.  With utter dismay and shock, when Dhan Handique, approached the Mager of the Bank, Piyush Hazarika, no satisfactory reply was received by Handique.

Instead to his utter dismay, the Mager casually called for Suruj Gogoi and without any thorough questioning allowed Suruj to leave for home. Seeing the discrepancies going on within a tiol bank like State Bank of India, the ordiry village man had to approach the office bearers of Dibrugarh district committee of AJYP to seek their help and support. In a quick move, all the members of the Parishad, including leaders like Krish Kanta Phukan, president Karu Shankar Dutta and secretary Kiron Bora approached the Bank Mager Piyush Hazarika and demanded to see all the related papers of the fake account. The mager sidelined the whole issue with an apology of not repeating their mistake in future. This angered the members of AJYP and later they lodged an FIR against the Bank Manger and other staffs of the bank.
