First Khasi horror movie 'Dak Bangla' released

SHILLONG, Dec 8: The first Khasi horror movie, ‘Dak Bangla’ was officially released in the city today by Laban MLA Sanbor Shullai. The movie will be screened for the first time at Mairang West Khasi Hills District on December 10 and 11 during the Kyllang festival.

Speaking at the release programme, MLA Shullai said, “Our state is still lagging behind in terms of the use of technology in the film compared to other films of the State. So I feel this is a huge achievement for all the people involved in the making of the movie.”

He said the people should extend support to Khasi movies by watching the movies whenever they are being screened. “This will encourage the producers, directors, artists besides others who are engaged in film making to come up with new projects,” he said.

Producer of the film, J Marwein said, “It has taken us two years to complete the making of this movie and we had to face many struggles and challenges along the way. Now we are happy that we can filly put the movie in public view and hopefully we will get a good response from audience,” he said.

He informed that they have also received an invitation from the organizers of the Kyllang Festival to screen the movie during the two-day festival on December 10 and 11.

Meanwhile, K Kharmalki, Director of the movie, said, “This time we have tried to offer something new to our viewers and we came up with a horror movie which also has a social message.”
