Governor tells Postal service to improve coverage

Itragar, Jan 21: Aruchal Pradesh Governor emphasized that Postal Service in the state must expand its coverage to all the districts and then ADC Headquarters.

It must provide quality service and the Speed Post service must be improved. Governor JP Rajkhowa said this when the Chief Postmaster General, North East Circle, Shillong, S C Barmma called on him at Raj Bhavan today.

He suggested for use of helicopter service for faster delivery of its goods and services.

In this regard Governor stressed that post of Director, Postal Service at Itagar, which is lying vacant since long time must be filled at the earliest.

Expressing his appreciation to the Postal Department for starting a Parcel Hub and Postal Bank with postal ATM facilities in the State Capital in the coming days, the Governor advised the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), North East Circle to keep Aruchal Pradesh in mind for such innovative and extended programmes of the Department. He also advised him to exhort the Postal Officials in the State to take active part in the Swachh Bharat Mission. The Chief Postmaster General informed that Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Department of Telecom will be iugurating the new building of Post Office at Itagar on Jan 31.

While assuring better service in the future, the CPMG briefed the Governor on ‘Rural Postal Life Insurance scheme in the State and amenities provided by the Department.

He informed that it aims to cover all the Gram Panchayats. The CPMG also informed the Governor the challenges of the department in the State.
