HOWRAGHAT, May 9: A massive rainstorm that hit entire Howraghat on Wednesday, caused serious damages in Howraghat and its adjoining areas. Two persons were killed in the fierce rainstorm. A man was killed when a tree fell on his house, while a woman who sustained fierce injury was taken to Howraghat CHC but succumbed to her injury in the CHC.
The two deceased people have been identified as Mohan Bora (70) and Sabhabati Harijan (23) of Howraghat town respectively. A number of houses were damaged in the fierce rainstorm.
Besides, a large number of trees were uprooted in the rainstorm while the electric lines were snapped badly. Including Howraghat, other areas like Dokmoka, Langhin, Phuloni, Bakaliaghat and Rajapathar were badly affected in the storm. Power supply in entire Howraghat area remained cut-off. According to report received from the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Howraghat subdivision, the power supply will be restored in a few days.
