IED recovered at lbari, locals protest against Army

LBARI, April 16: Sensation prevailed here after a powerful improvised explosive device (IED), weighing nearly eight kgs, was recovered by Army from the house of one Atikur Rahman at Khukundi village under lbari Police Station on Wednesday night.

Army sources claimed that  the explosive was found by  a team of Army’s 21 Mahar regiment in the backside of the house of Atikur Rahman at around 12.00 pm last night.

Meanwhile, local people of the village claimed that the Army has staged a drama of recovering the IED. The villagers claimed that Atikur is a daily wage labour and he is in no way involved in such activities. They also claimed that a person , who works as spy of the Army , kept the IED in Atikur’s house.

“This person had animosity with Atikur’s family.  So to take revenge on him, he kept the IED at Atikur’s house,” said a local on condition of anonymity. The locals also alleged that the Army brutally tortured Atikur and his family members.  Angry people today about to attack a team of Army who visited the village. However, lbari Additiol Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kamal Kumar Gupta , maged to pacify the irate villagers.
