'Incumbency factor will lead to BPF's win'

Chirang, March 15: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) candidate from 14 No. Nishima BTC constituency James Basumatary appears confident about winning in the forthcoming BTC election.

After the declaration of his candidature by the BPF, Basumatary had assured to work for the welfare of the people of the area if voted to power again. He said that the incumbency factor for the BPF would lead them to win in the election.

Steering committees and awareness campaign have been organized to increase his number of supporters.

Basumatary, who is also the existing Executive Member, informed that earlier the Nishima area had been regarded as a backward constituency. However, times had changed and development projects had been initiated during his tenure. He said that the Hagrama Bridge was one of the major initiatives that had solved the communication problem of the area.

He also claimed that in his tenure at least 20 medical sub-centres, drinking water facilities, electrification, market sheds had been constructed.

Basumatary said that the setting up of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank at Amguri had brought the banking system to the area.  

Meanwhile, the People’s Coordition for Democratic Rights (PCDR) has fielded Nirmal Basumatary as their candidate from Nishima constituency. The Congress and BJP have not yet declared their candidates yet.
