Indian Panorama Film Festival kicks off in Shillong

SHILLONG, Aug 4: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma iugurated the three-day Indian Panorama Film Festival in the city on Thursday at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.

Shillong has been hosting the Indian Panorama Film Festival for the last three years and this is the fourth edition of the festival.

Chief Minister in his speech announced the creation of the required infrastructures to further promote the film industry of the state.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the film festival, Sangma said, “We will be extending full support by creating the required infrastructures,”

Observing that the infrastructures such as screening of films is important to reach out to a larger audience, he said that this will ensure that filmmakers do not get displaced when big Bollywood films are released in Shillong.

Challenging the local filmmakers in the state, the Chief Minister said, “You have made beginning and it is time for you to conquer the world.”

He informed that the government is all set to iugurate two centres of excellence for music at Shillong and Tura, West Garo Hills District to ensure Meghalaya becomes a producer of Gurus in the field of music.

Stating that Shillong is much safer with its peaceful and conducive environment, Sangma said, “I call upon all our friends who understand the important of this ebling environment to make it more sustaible.”

According to him, the Indian Panorama Film Festival 2016 is one such positive story that ebles the people of the state to connect with the rest of the world.

The cast and crew of ‘Ramsingh Charlie’ including lead actor, Kumud Mishra, lead actress, Divya Dutta and the Director Nitin Kakkar also participated in Film Festival.
