Indonesia's Mount Soputan erupts

Jakarta, Feb 7: Mount Soputan volcano in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province erupted on Sunday, spewing a column of hot ash up to 2.5 km high. Mount Soputan, located some 60 km from provincial capital Mado, has high potential for further big eruption which is indicated by persistent tremors with amplitude of 41 mm, tiol Disaster Magement Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told Xinhua news agency reported. Several subdistricts in Mihasa Tenggara district were hit by ash and other volcanic matter.  (IANS)
