MARGHERITA, February 9: More than 200 irate residents of 1 Number Lazum  Vineer Mill Bazaar road of ward number 3 in Margherita blocked this important road for more than an hour on Tuesday.

The irate residents of I Number Lazum Vineer Mill Bazaar for many years have been demanding repair of the connectivity road but in vain. Pradip Bhowmick said that during the rainy season people had to suffer as there were many potholes in the road. Man Chakraborthy, who has been living in the area for many decades, said that the Margherita Town Committee never tried to construct the important road.  Other residents like Lakhi Rani Dutta, Saaju Debth and Manju Dutta alleged that Margherita town had become a den for illegal liquor sale and slammed Margherita MLA Pradyut Bordoloi and the district administration for not taking any action against this.

Bhim Karmakar, vice-chairman of Margherita Town Committee, met the irate residents and said that the State Government had stopped sending development funds due to which development work was suffering. But he assured that the 1 Number Lazum Vineer Mill Bazaar road would be repaired soon. The protesters warned that if the road is not repaired soon then they would permanently block the road.
