KALAIGAON, February 18:  Kalaigaon Upper Primary Teachers’ Union staged a dhar on Wednesday in front of their office at Kalaigaon in protest against the eviction notice of its office building. More than 200 agitations staged the protest. According to them, a part of government land measuring 2 katha had been occupied in Kalaigaon town. But the BTC administration decided to build a permanent building of ICDS office here and notified the teachers’ union to leave this place within February 17. The teachers’ union submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri through the Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle to take up the issue. Meanwhile, Jagadish Sarkar, EM of BTC, told media persons that the land was allotted for ICDS office in 2014 which was illegally encroached by the teachers’ union. “Teachers should not get involved in such illegal encroachment. During duty hours they should not be indulging in politics,” said Sarkar.
