KHM to release vision document next month

SHILLONG, April 4: While celebrating the 15th anniversary of Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) on Tuesday, Adelbert Nongrum, working president of the political party informed that the Movement is preparing a vision document which will be made public in the next months.

Speaking to reporters, Nongrum said that many issues encountered by the youths of the state will be highlighted in detail in the vision document like border issue, Inner Line Permit (ILP), reservation policy, unemployment etc.

“We are not an anti-tribal party but is more than willing to work together with bofied tribal’s to hinder and drive away illegal immigrants from here which could hamper and put the safety and security of the indigenous people of the State,” he said.

Meanwhile, party president Pyndap Saibon pointed out that in the year 2003 the party got two MLAs, while in 2004 two MDCs, 2008 one MLA, 2009, four MDCs despite the effort of some to do away with the party but owing to the determition of some of the leaders KHM sustained and the party live on to fight for the right concerning the indigenous people.  Informing that in December 31, 2012, KHM got the confirmation from the election commission, he however said, “But owning to time constraint was not able to win any MLA seats in 2013, but in 2014 got four MDCs.”

He added, “The party has firm principles and is determine to continue its struggles to reach its goal for the betterment of its people.”
