KOKRAJHAR, Dec 31: Two hardcore cadres of Kamatapur Liberation Army (KLO), identified as Dhajoy Barman alias Dayal alias Jiten alias Soton alias Mridul (23) of South Choutara village under Bauraguri police station and Gopal Barman alias Joydev alias Joy (20) of Moamari, also under Bauraguri police station surrendered before Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar in Kokrajhar.
They deposited one HK–33 German made assault rifle and two hand gredes. Kokrajhar SP Sunil Kumar said Dhajoy was the district commander of Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts and carried a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. He joined the KLO in 2010 and was trained along the galand–Myanmar border and was involved in many heinous activities in the area. The SP said extreme pressure by the police had forced him to surrender along with another cadre.
“With this surrender, Kokrajhar district will be free from activities of KLO as three of their main cadres have already been killed in encounter and four others important cadres have already surrendered earlier,” Kokrajhar SP said.
