KPC pays tribute to jourlist Chino Basumatary

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 29: The Kokrajhar Press Club (KPC) on Thursday remembered jourlist Chino Basumatary who passed away on this day in 2015 after prolonged illness. The KPC members offered floral tribute to Basumatary as he was the founder of Kokrajhar Press Club. The president of KPC, A Kr Basumatary said Basumatary was one of the fearless and uncompromising jourlists and he had made a lot of contribution to print media. He said  Basumatary was the founder of KPC and he founded the two-storey office building of KPC, besides the Bodofa UN Brahma Memorial Jourlists’ Guest House at Rupgar in Guwahati. Bodoland Jourlists’ Union was formed under his initiative and he was also the president of All Assam Small Newspaper Owners’ Association for many years. He was the pioneer to set up print media in BTC region. A Kr Basumatary said the KPC had already moved for construction of the Chino Basumatary memorial hall in the existing press club building and demanded annual award during the celebration of Bodoland Day for jourlists who are promoting peace, tranquility and development in BTC, in memory of Chino Basumatary.
